BMW K100 piston ring set (standard size)
(segments, piston rings)
The set is used to equip four pistons.
The standard dimension is 67.00 mm.
The cylinder internal dimension is measured.
1. Compression ring: Rectangular ring - DLC coated due to Nikasil coated cylinder bore
2. Compression ring: minute ring for quick running in or adjustment of the ring (with or without anti-rotation device)
Oil scraper ring: 3 parts - 2 steel rings with hard chrome-plated running surface - 1 clamping ring
IMPORTANT:
Since the BMW K100 model has undergone a change in the engine (cylinder head, pistons and piston rings) over the years, you have to be careful here! Therefore there are different spare part numbers.
You shouldn't just go by the year of your K100, as theoretically a previous rebuild could have used pistons from a different year. To be sure which ring set you need, you must measure the groove height of the oil control ring.
This is either 2.5 or 3.0 mm high. Furthermore, there is no anti-twist device on the 2nd compression ring (minute ring) on the oldest piston models.
We have deliberately created only one K100 standard item so that the wrong ring set is not accidentally ordered! Please use the option.

DLC coating = Diamond Like Carbon - This is a carbon coating that is applied using the plasma process.
The coating is 3 times harder than chrome-plated piston rings, further minimizing ring wear.
Its thermal conductivity is 5 times that of copper (one of the best conductors of heat), improving heat dissipation from the piston to the cylinder.
In addition, the coefficient of friction is only half that of Teflon, resulting in even less wear on the cylinder.
